George Washington and Economics? Why yes!

The following lessons were adapted to introduce/incorporate economic concepts as they relate to George Washington's life and presidency.  Majority of reading materials were taken from Mount Vernon's educational resources page.

SCARCITY/TRADE:

French & Indian War · George Washington's Mount VernonYears ago, I was at a workshop where I was told that the first school day's lesson should be your best lesson - not a day that consists of all the rules, materials, etc.  You need a lesson that will grasp the student's attention.  After attending Mount Vernon's institute, I adapted my resource simulation to mimic the French and Indian War.  I do this activity on the very first day.  I included additional materials about George Washington's role in the war.   Click here for the original version.  You will find what to put in each folder in the original version.  Below, you will find my google drive folder on my adapted lesson. You do not necessarily have to use all the worksheets and handouts.  Use what you think you need.  You have the resource trade simulation, reading handout, and student notes worksheet.
